farewell 2020

2020 was bitch! She was handing out emotions like tic tacs and I got caught up in every one. I would describe my 2020 music selection as erratic as my feelings - I was praying, crying and twerking the whole year. This playlist really captures my 2020 experience. The beginning of the year was filled with community building intentions, dating escapades, Pop That Thang and fun, Ballie(feat. Kah-Lo) then the pandemic hit. For a while, along with everyone else, I swam through uncertainty only to drown in rosè and was forced to use white cheddar cheese puffs as a floatation device, I Trust You. Once I got some sense of self, the murder of George Floyd shifted the world and the grooves turned into a revolution, I Can’t Breathe or Black America Again. I stood in my Blackness and waited for the hope that only seems to trickle in periodically to ease the noise of the people, Hang On In There. By the end of the year, I was in a self reflection desert and my shadow self began to emerge in a plethora of mirages, Angela. It’s now with a centering peace that all of ME is being compose like a beautiful symphony, Impromptu and 2021 is looking hopeful!
