How To Unwind Like A Boss

I would say that 60% of my time is spent in bed - which has been deemed as my second workspace. It’s where I knit, read, write, gain inspiration and of course relax. When designing my bedroom (still a work in progress) my intention was to create a space that invited stillness, inspiration and rest. The first thing I want to experience each morning is a sense of clarity and warmth. Beginning each day with a higher vibration creates a foundation for me to prop myself on throughout the day which can bring a plethora of challenges and doubts. My sleep space is also my safe space - it’s my creative space - my space that incubates my ideas and nurture them into manifestations.

Sunday mornings have been scheduled as my slow quiet mornings. It’s when I reflect on the previous week and plan out the upcoming week. I move slower, I meditate longer and I attend to the soft whispers of my body that demands attention. Unwinding is a necessary part of my creative process. It’s how I gain clarity and receive the download of inspiration that eventually becomes a handcrafted knit piece, a blog post or a new recipe.

So how do you unwind like a boss? The beauty of this question is that there’s no right or wrong answer - it’s a vibe - a routine that you have created to take your mind, body and soul from 10 to 0 in a very short time. It took me a beat to get it just right and to determine how to unwind to provide me what I need in any given moment.

Here’s a general guide of what I do to let it all go and how it generates the results that I’m seeking.

inspiration

In general, I get inspired all day from little things that cross my path. There’s no set time or backdrop for inspiration - I just unknowingly harvest delicious visual content that resurfaces at a later date. However, I do have an intentional routine to quiet my environment beyond meditation that aids in my creative process. It’s as simple as making myself an oat milk cappuccino on a Sunday morning and sipping it in bed - slowly. The stillness of a Sunday morning in bed is the best! I get great morning light in my space that’s invigorating and wraps me up in a cocoon of allowance.

clarity

Daily meditation is my secret power. I practice all types from guided - visual - silent and even walking. I prefer to meditate first thing in the morning and set an intention for the day. Since meditation is a practice, I don’t have the same experience every time but I do leave with a sense of purpose and clarity - even when I fall asleep on occasion.

wellness

I’ve been practicing yoga for about 20 years - sporadically. I tend to get very bored in any routine - especially a workout routine. However, I always come back to the gentleness of yoga and it’s always there to serve me. It also helps when you have a talented friend that creates amazing yoga mats here
